Geography

Athens is located in Southern Greece, which is also near the Aegean Sea. Surrounding the city is mountains, such as Mount Lycabettus and the Hymettus Mountains. Throughout the city are rivers that also survive as a form as transportation for people to move around the city easier. Since Athens is located in the Mediterranean, it has Mediterranean climate. This is characterized as hot and dry summer days whith mild and rainy winters. Snow is not very common in Athens.

Culture

Athens is a very big tourist destination, so it is known a very big and vibrant city. It is home to about 3 million people, which makes it the biggest city in Greece. It is known as a big tourist attraction due to its historical landmarks and its vibrant nightlife. Athens hosts various culture festivals which they celebrate music, theater, and dance. One of the major festivals is Athens and Epidaurus Festival. The main language that is spoken is Greek, but Enligh is very common in the tourist areas. The cuisine that is found in Athens is mainly Greek food, such as souvlaki (grilled meat on skewers), moussaka (eggplant casserole), tzatziki (yogurt and cucumber dip), and baklava (sweet pastry).
